Makeup in photos?

So I'm supposed to take some photographs of a real pretty girl soon, but I've noticed from candid photographs that in pictures her face turns ghostly white. Why is this?

In person her makeup looks OK, but in pictures its like somebody threw flour on her face.Makeup in photos?
im a makeup artist and so many people have asked me this question! you need to tell the girl to use a foundation without sunscreen (spf 15) because if she is wearing makeup with sunscreen, her face will catch the light and will make her face look very white.

A trick I use and other have found handy is to apply make-up in front of a bright light - a common mistake is applying too much make up Report Abuse

it's all about lighting. also, you have to wear a bit more makeup in photos than you would for every day because it doesnt show up as much.
on stage and in front of the camara, people tend to get washed out so either she needs some sort of foundation, tinted moustuizer, or somthing that either matches her skin or is darker.

eyeliner too. wing it out maybe, make sure you can see her eyes, try some test shots, and change the make up if needed.

and some think on the lips. gloss and be really good or reallll badd. so lip stick would work better.
make sure you have a good background and that lighting is good. and most the time for pictures makeup should be brighter/darker than everyday wear.
It must be the lighting...try taking them outside with no flash in day light!
